In this assignment, you must write a 2 page descriptive essay. Your essay must be typed, double spaced, and follow MLA formatting guidelines. You must also highlight all similes in one color and all metaphors in another color. Include a corresponding color coded key. For full credit, you will need a mixture of both. Please also bold colorful adjectives and adverbs. 2 points will be deducted if this is not done.
For this module, we are going to explore how our physical choices impact the quality of our lives. The documented evidence related to the correlation between exercise and quality living is firmly established. Can you exercise 30 minutes per day for one week? Can you fully give up sugar or processed foods for seven days? Have you considered how poor sleep effects your life? Can you go to bed at 10:10 p.m. for a straight week? In this module, you will select something related to our physical choices that would truly be challenging for you. I’d like to further challenge you to do this for 10 days, but only seven are required. I have listed a few ideas below. It would be my preference that you select one of these. However, if you have something else that would be equally challenging, you can email me and request permission for an alternative challenge. The key is this: Your choice must actually be difficult for you. If you already exercise daily, then you can’t pick that challenge. At the end of the module, you will have a descriptive paper due. In this paper, you will describe how your challenge impacted you. How was your life different this week from your regular life when you weren’t engaging in the challenge? In other words, in your paper, you will use dominant impression, similes, metaphors, and colorful language to describe some aspect related to your week as a result of this experiment.

If you write about exercising for 30 minutes per day, you may describe one of the days where you finished a 30-minute cardio workout and you realized you have never felt so energetic. Your whole paper, would describe that day and the energy you felt. In contrast, perhaps you want your dominant impression to be that the exhaustion you felt after one of your workouts was the most tired you have ever felt. You would describe that moment.
Choices are as follows:
Exercise (cardio) for 30 minutes per day for at least one week. This can include walking, running, walking/running etc.
Give up sugar or all junk foods for at least one week.
Go to bed every night at 10:10 p.m. (See the YouTube video in this module, for why that time is selected
Why am I asking you to do this? Life can be challenging, painful, and stressful. Being the best version of ourselves physically helps each of us face all that life throws at us from a much better place. It is only one week of your life (10 days if you really want to push yourself), and I hope you will embrace the challenge head on. You just might grow and see life through a different lens that brings a positive change to your life.
