Problem Statement
Consider the special braced frame shown in the figure below supporting three 20ft spans and subject to vertical and seismic loads. The frame consists of W24 beams and W27 columns. The factored gravity uniformly-distributed-load on frame is 1200 plf. The lateral earthquake load is 400 kips. All steel is Grade 50. Design and detail the most critical brace, interior column, and interior brace-beam-column-connection. Use LRFD. See the syllabus for project report requirements
