1. Maintain abduction
   1. Abduction pillow
   2. Do not remove it
      1. After THR we prefer ABDuction (away from the body/center)
2. Avoid crossing the legs
   1. Do not cross the midline of the body
3. Avoid internal rotation
   1. The moment you internally rotate you will displace the hip
4. Avoid bending the hips more than 90 degrees
   1. Use an elevated toilet seat if they need to go to the bathroom
   2. You will tell the pt they need to use an elevated toilet seat and they can not pick things up from the floor. This can cause the hip to be dislocated
5. Avoid pivoting on the affected side
