This week you will have ONE short essay which require you to apply the knowledge you have gained in a creative and subjective way. The short essay must be 150–200 words. It is recommended that you read over the secondary source article several times before you submit your assignment. Your short essay must be well-structured, be carefully edited and revised, and demonstrate knowledge and application of the concepts viewed discussed in the reading (textbook) and in the class lecture.
Background: After winning the French-Indian War in 1763, the British were in a lot of debt. They tried to raise money by taxing the American colonists. In
March 1765, the British passed the Stamp Act. It went into effect on November 1, 1765. It placed a tax on all newspapers and other printed materials. The Stamp Act would have an effect on anyone who bought a printed item like a newspaper.
Question: Was the Stamp Act an unreasonable and unfair tax? How were the colonists behaving in response to the Stamp Act? Was the Stamp Act repeal?
