Learning Goal: I’m working on a sociology discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Discussion Question
Late postings will not be accepted. Postings will be graded based on academic relevance and must display some analytical ability and the criteria for grading your discussions in D2L (Discussion Grading Rubric). Postings that essentially are “verbal nods” to another’s postings (ie. “Suzanne, I totally agree with you!”) are ineffective and not appropriate. It is also ineffective to purely quote from the text—we are all reading the same materials; effective and appropriate deployment of course concepts/terms within context demonstrates comprehension and engagement.
Missed assignments CAN NOT BE MADE UP unless it is a University accepted excused absence.
Answer the following question(s). Make sure your response is at least 125 words in length and that you respond to three other students’ posts.
Consider: How are your lives and identities tied to complex organizations? We’d like to think not so much, yet in our everyday lives we find that we MUST declare identities to these large and complex organizations
TO DO:
Take out your wallet and describe the contents. Among the items you should find should include your identification cards (state, school), meal or cafeteria passes, licenses, access keys for gyms or dorms, credit or debit cards, and so on. Keep these items in mind as you answer the following questions:
1. What would happen if you found yourself without an item, such as their state identification or driver’s license card? What difficulties would this present? Why?
2. Why do we “need” these things in a complex society? Would a person living in a rural village in a less complex society need such items to move through daily life?
